Getting started guide
What is Adagio
Adagio is a web and mobile app to help music teachers manage their classroom or studio. With Adagio, you can:
- Track student practice time
- Schedule lessons
- Assign homework (and track progress)
- Share class or lesson notes
- Automate billing and invoices
For students, Adagio gives students a way to keep in touch and remain engaged in between classes with comments, a social feed, and elements that make practicing a bit more fun with levels and points for each session.

First, start adding students
To get started, the first step is to invite or manually add your students. Think of Adagio like an address book, you start by listing the names, emails, and other information about each student (anything you’d like like to keep track of). This is an important step as all functionality is based off of the email address entered for each student.
There are a 3 ways to add students
- One by one using the “add student” dialog
- Bulk-add by listing all of their emails at one time
- Ask students to search for you via the Practice app
Option 1. One at a time

Option 2. Bulk add

Option 3.
Search via Practice app
Profile page → Settings icon → Join Class → Search for the teachers name

Why add student contact information like email?
This information is not only there for your records but enables functionality.
- Student email addresses allow for sending messages, tracking practice time, and calendar invites/reminders
- Parent contact information allows parents the ability to see a lesson schedule, billing invoices/reminders, and to see student progress (the same practice data you can see).
When a student’s email address is added, they will automatically receive a message asking them to download the practice app. This is the primary way they will interface with Adagio and how they will track and send you practice session data.
Note
For option 3 (allow students to find you via the Practice app) make sure you have this option enabled in your Adagio account settings. It is enabled by default, but if turned off, students won’t see you.

The hardest part is over, now explore!
Once students have been added to your class, you can begin to test and explore the various features of Adagio including scheduling with the calendar, automate invoices and payments, notes, homework assignments, and much more.
The best thing to start with are the basics. Make sure students are using the app and that you see practice data in your account. Once you do, visit the feed page to comment + like and show encouragement to your students.
